This shouldn't be a problem, but I saw the previous...Google Account Registration TutorialMany people still use server rooms or even airport IPs, and then leave messages asking why they failed. Yes, if I were a brand owner, I would definitely filter out high-risk IPs like these.
From a brand's perspective, if the IP address used to register an account has low credibility and integrity, would you want such a user?
So, I'll share my personal understanding of the "IP quality" assessment framework, and why I always recommend using a combination of "fingerprint browser + residential IP service provider" to register overseas accounts.
I. IP Quality Assessment
Generally speaking, when we talk about "IP quality," we are actually referring to two dimensions: "IP reputation" and "IP purity." While they share similarities, they also have different emphases and distinctions.
1.1 IP Reputation
IP reputation is a quantifiable assessment of an IP address, based on its historical behavior, especially in strictly monitored areas like email marketing.
Key metrics include: spam complaint rate, email bounce rate, whether an email is listed in a spam trap or honeypot, and the frequency and number of emails sent.
Therefore, when using products from reputable cloud server or VPS providers, port 25 for sending and receiving emails usually requires an additional application. Some providers may not even open port 25.
1.2 IP Purity
IP purity is a broader concept, encompassing not only malicious IP address behavior but also abuse and association.
Key metrics include: rarely used for abuse or malicious activities (such as DDoS attacks or cyber fraud), not marked on mainstream blacklists, not excessively shared with a large number of unrelated users, and not associated with any suspicious or malicious domain names.
Therefore, while an IP address may have a high reputation, its purity may be compromised due to being shared by a large number of users. This is why I don't recommend using VPS or VPNs—IP addresses shared by many users—to register overseas accounts with stricter risk controls.
For example, foreign streaming media, e-commerce, and social media websites and services strictly restrict or block the IP addresses of data centers.
1.3 Residential IP
I've written a dedicated article about IP types, so I won't go into detail here. Just know that residential IPs are typically assigned to real home users, thus having a natural advantage in anonymity, bypassing geographical restrictions, and anti-bot detection, and are considered the highest quality IP type.
Of course, there are exceptions. One such exception is Google's IP address range.
Because Google is a major provider of internet content, a major distributor of traffic, and one of the architects of network trust systems (such as reCAPTCHA), its own IP address range enjoys a naturally "trustworthy" status on the internet. Therefore, this is the advantage of Google VPN, and also the advantage of Google Pixel phones.
Many people wonder if the Google VPN in Pixel phones is unnecessary. That's because you don't understand the value of Google IP ranges.
1.4 Evaluation System
Having read this, you should now have a basic understanding of the dimensions for assessing IP quality. Generally speaking, individual users like us don't need professional tools for testing. We can simply find some free testing websites, look at the relevant values, and understand what those values mean. Unless you have specific needs requiring a step-by-step investigation.
- Blacklist check: This check checks for abusive and malicious behaviors such as sending spam and cyberattacks. It is jointly maintained by professional security agencies and ISPs (Internet Service Providers).
- Historical records: Whether the IP has been associated with malicious online activities. A long history of clean records makes the IP appear cleaner.
- Reverse DNS lookup: Checks whether the domain name associated with an IP address is blacklisted.
- ASN lookup: Check the type and reputation of the hosting service provider.
Then, I had Gemini generate a form listing some tools; those who want to tinker can take a closer look.
| index | describe | High purity/reputation index | Low purity/reputation index | Related tools |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Blacklist status | Is the IP address blacklisted by mainstream anti-spam or anti-malware databases? | It is not listed on any major blacklist. | Listed on one or more blacklists (such as Spamhaus ZEN). | Spamhaus, MXToolbox, BarracudaCentral |
| IP type | The source of the IP address is either a data center or a residential ISP. | Residential IP address (assigned to home users by the ISP). | Data center IP (assigned by cloud service providers or hosting companies). | IPinfo, MaxMind |
| ASN Ownership | The nature of the Autonomous System (AS) to which the IP address belongs. | It belongs to a reputable ISP. | It belongs to a known abused hosting service provider or anonymous proxy network. | BGPView, HackerTarget |
| Historical abuse records | Whether the IP address has been associated with DDoS attacks, cyber fraud, malware distribution, or other similar activities in the past. | A clean history with no reports of abuse. | There are reports of abuse or malicious activity in the historical records. | IPQualityScore, AbuseIPDB |
| Related Domains | Domain names associated with IP addresses, obtained through reverse DNS lookups. | The associated domain has a good reputation or no associated domain. | The associated domain contains spam, phishing, or illegal websites. | DNS lookup tool |
| Email sending behavior | (Primarily for IP reputation) Email sending history of IP addresses, including bounce rate and complaint rate. | Low bounce rate and low spam complaint rate. | High bounce rate and high spam complaint rate. | Google Postmaster Tools, Sender Score |
Generally, we use ipinfo.io/ping0.cc/ipdata.coFor websites like these, a simple check of IP purity is sufficient. It's important to note that the same IP address may show different results in different security organizations' databases. In other words:
In database A, it might be a data center IP address, which is not very clean.
In database B, it is likely a residential IP address, indicating good purity.
Moreover, the inclusion and evaluation of various databases are themselves commercial activities, and there may be instances of improper transfer of benefits.
Therefore, don't blindly trust residential IP addresses. If one IP address doesn't work, change it.
This is the significance of residential IP service providers.
two,Preferred Residential IP for Registration
Having built a network environment for registering overseas apps, you probably already understand the importance of IP quality. IP address is the starting point for network activity, and fingerprint browsers use IP addresses to disguise your network "fingerprint" as a genuine "local user." If you're unfamiliar with the function of browser "fingerprints," you can refer to the third installment of our fingerprint browser series.
So, next, let's take a look at what residential IP service providers offer. This time, we've chosen [the provider's name/brand].ABCProxyNext, I will reproduce the process of registering a Google account.

Alright, that's all for this video.
I will soon be compiling information on VPS and residential IPs into a new online resource on overseas tools.
This makes it convenient for everyone to view and understand the information in one place.
