When we register overseas website accounts and use overseas services, we often need to break through geographical restrictions and simulate the online behavior of local people through the combination of local residential IP and fingerprint browser. Therefore, purchasing residential IP services has become a necessary common sense.
In my previous tutorial sharing, for example
Register an account in the low-price zone:Google,Apple ID,NetflixandDisney Plusetc;
Register overseas bank cards and cryptocurrency trading platforms:N26, Binance andBybit Cardetc;
Buy a low-cost contract phone from a US telecom operator: $299Pixel 9, $199Pixel 9a and $165iPhone 13etc;
In addition, operations such as registering for an educational email address and applying for Google Gemini educational discounts all require a local residential IP.
Why don’t VPS and computer rooms work?
When we look at IP types, we can usually see three types: Hosting, Business and ISP, which are computer room IP, commercial IP and residential IP. Generally speaking:
Computer room IP: This is the IP assigned to the data center by the Internet Service Provider (ISP). Most of the VPSs we use are of this type.
Commercial IP: It is the IP assigned to enterprises and other social organizations by Internet Service Providers (ISP);
Residential IP: As the name suggests, it is the IP used by ordinary residents.
These three types of IP are not simply distinguished in terms of superiority or inferiority, nor are they clearly defined; it depends on the circumstances.
For example, data center IPs are large in quantity, low in price and fast in speed, and are usually used to build websites and host software services; residential IPs are expensive and slow in speed, but they are highly anonymous and trustworthy, and can be used to access financial, shopping, and social media websites with strict risk control, without easily triggering account risk control.
However, when we want to register the accounts and services that I mentioned at the beginning of the video, since the data center IP has a higher probability of being used for sending spam, online fraud, and even launching hacker attacks, it will trigger risk control behaviors such as account verification, account blocking, and registration restrictions or failures.
Therefore, in the above scenarios, try to avoid using computer room and airport IPs.
How to Choose a Residential IP Service Provider
Generally speaking, since residential IPs are usually charged based on traffic, we will not use them for large-traffic operations, such as watching videos, downloading files, etc. The most typical scenario is registering an account, and even daily use of the account does not require a residential IP.
For example, to register a US mobile phone number for talkatone, you must use a residential IP address to register, but you don’t need one to use it. If you are not sure, you can look back at my previous posts.
Therefore, when choosing a residential IP service provider, we usually consider several factors:
- Billing method: Is it charged by traffic or by time? If it is only used to register an account, it will be more cost-effective to charge by traffic;
- IP connection success rate: Especially for those who choose dynamic IP service, the connection success rate will greatly affect the operation experience. Here is a real experience. The unit price of IP of a certain service provider is very cheap, but when I specified Portland, USA, regardless of the number of IPs, 90% could not connect to any of the 40 IPs I selected, which was very frustrating.
- IP quality: If your operation scenario is sensitive, remember to check the IP quality every time. But generally speaking, IP quality can only be seen after paying first. Therefore, you can buy less for the first time and check whether it meets your needs.
- Hidden deductions: In the background of some IP service providers, if you want to specify a country or region, the traffic will be doubled... To be honest, when I encountered this situation for the first time, I was speechless...
Well, let's demonstrate the basic operation of residential IP. Friends who don't know can take a look.
Okay, that’s all for this video.
In this series of overseas tools, I will introduce the basic usage of different software, including network tools, communication tools, payment tools, efficiency tools, etc., so that everyone can access and use overseas accounts more conveniently.
Of course, I still have to reiterate that the so-called first choice is not the best, it is just the first one I think of and the most commonly used one. My personal ability is limited. If you have a good tool, you can also send me a private message.
That's it, I think it's useful
